STEVE LONG – EARTH WALK 2.6 MILES
You will have all heard of the 2.6 Challenge by now which has and is still being carried out instead of the London Marathon, which was due to run earlier this year but cancelled due to Government Guidelines. Our sincere thanks to go everyone that has got involved in this brilliant event and helped raise some vital funds for the Centre. Donations are still coming in!
Meet Steve R B Long who has secondary progressive Multiple Sclerosis, which can make walking and balancing very difficult. Because of this Steve can only walk short distances aided by a rollator.
Inspired by Captain Tom, Steve is taking on his own challenge in of the Community Centre which he has proudly named the ‘ Earth Walk’. This will consist of walking 2.6 miles in his small back garden. A total of 60ft x 235 laps of the garden will be completed to achieve the 2.6 miles.
If that’s not enough of a challenge, Steve will also be speaking about our Solar System that will be recorded and shared as a education resource at a later date! Go Steve!
Steve said “I am hoping people will make donations in aid of my effort for the Community Centre and specifically to help people and children who are vulnerable in these times”.
You can support Steves brilliant efforts by donating directly to the Community Centre (Registered charity no 301880) with more details on how to donate below.
Some of you may well recognise Steve as he is a brilliant artist who has sold many paintings at Lymington Market, located beside the United Reform Church. Steve will be donating one of his iconic paintings, which will be up for auction at a later date.
A big thank you to Steve for getting involved and helping to raise vital funds for the Centre and best of luck for you walk.
