Lymington Community Association announces refurbishment to modernise the Community Centre

We are very pleased to be able to share with the local community, some exciting future plans and proposals for the Lymington Community Centre.

The Lymington Community Association, is at a historic crossroads as, after 70 years of offering our facilities to the local community, we will shortly be in a position to upgrade, modernise and refurbish the Centre.

Recently, as you may know, the local Lymington and Pennington Town Council were far sighted enough to make a grant available to us of £900,000 for this work.  The use of this money is dependent upon us raising matching funds.

For us to raise the money a number of fundraising approaches are being targeted. These will include local and national fundraising, private individual support, events and appeals, Trusts and Grants, and the consideration of the sale of a small part of the car park.  This would raise funds but would leave the parking facilities broadly the same as there are some redundant buildings on the car park due to be removed.

Our aim is to respond as quickly as possible to the Council’s generous support at a time of exceptionally high competition for public funds.  Refurbishment has already started and the Pottery has been upgraded, renewed and modernised and will be welcoming potters in January.  The next stage is the refurbishment and extension of the Fuller McLellan kitchen due to start early next year and other parts of the refurbishment will follow as funds are raised.

We need your help and support.  Donations are very welcome and any ideas you have to raise funds or give us your support to achieve this important leap forward for the Lymington Community Centre will be appreciated. The Association will be consulting the membership with the proposals and we look forward to sharing the development stages with you as the project unfolds.
