What We Offer
Lymington Centre Pre-School is at the heart of the community, we are not only based within the Community Centre, but we take part in the activities and events within the Community such as the Carnival, Christmas Tree Festival, and Flower Festival, we also have ties to groups that use the Centre.
To enrich our children’s cultural capital, we use two pathways firstly our statutory ‘curriculum’ which covers the seven areas of learning and the Characteristics of Effective Learning. These are the values that the wider society values and feels are important for children to have the best possible start in life. Secondly, we use the things that are important to our families, our community and to us.
Each child has many gifts and talents to be unlocked and skills that have yet to be discovered. Not all of these will be valued by society, but none of us know where a child’s skills, gifts and talents may lead in the future or what career path they will choose. It is therefore, up to us within the Pre-School to ensure that our children are exposed to a wide range of opportunities and experiences to help children unlock their full potential, hence our involvement in the wider community.
We have a photographer who visits the Pre-school, giving you the opportunity to come in and have a family portrait as well as capturing your child with their friends.
Health and Well-Being
We have baking, cooking and food tasting sessions for children to learn, make and get excited about food, using our fully fitted kitchen. Children will get involved in the whole cooking process and learn skills such as mixing, kneading, chopping and pouring all with close support, to encourage and develop the skills of independence.
To support Public Health England’s recommendation, and ‘Saving Smiles’ we are incredibly pleased to offer a tooth brushing programme, which is offered to all children, with parents’ consent after the first term.
We also have Yoga and exercise sessions, which has many benefits for children such as helping to increase balance, coordination, and core strength. It can also aid relaxation and promote a sense of achievement. Helping children to have more confidence and self-esteem as well as problem-solving.
Children are also encouraged to take part in music and movement using programmes such as ‘Boogie Mites’ to support the development of all seven areas in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) which are:
Communication and Language,
Physical Development,
Personal, Social and Emotional Development,
Literacy,
Mathematics,
Understanding the World
Expressive arts and design.
All our staff recognise and understand that for a parent the choice of childcare for their child is of paramount importance. We offer the highest standards of care for each and every child, offering them endless opportunities to grow in confidence, self-esteem, and we help support them through the natural transition to full time education.
I cannot speak highly enough of this preschool, both my children have attended the preschool and my daughter attends currently. my daughter absolutely loves her pre-school, she adores all of her teachers and her key worker. Everyone is so approachable, and I could not think of a better pre-school for my children to attend. It is clean, fun and a friendly environment. If you want them to work on anything with your child they will, from potty training to behaviour etc. My daughter has come on leaps and bounds. My daughter is a clever girl and they have nurtured this and made sure she flourishes whether it would be with her speech, confidence, or counting. My daughter can now form letters with writing and has overcome her toilet training and no longer has accidents. Every member of staff is key to the running of this pre-school. I am only sad I don’t have any more children at the moment to attend in the future.
