Saturday 26th January saw the transformation of the Fuller McLellan Hall to host “Strictly Lymington”.  The idea initiated by Kayleigh Sargeant, owner of New Forest Academy of Dance and Kevin Thatcher of Push Studios New Forest together with Rachel Smith, Centre Manager.

An evening full of fun, laughter and entertainment commenced when guests were greeted on arrival with drinks and served canapes by volunteers, kindly donated by Stanwell House Hotel and the Cook Shop in Lymington. Lighting and music directed by Ben Sargeant.

The evening kicked off with dance routines from the Broadway Show Chicago.  Everyone was welcomed by the Association Chairman, Cllr Anna Rostand and compere for the evening Nicole Ansell.

Five local willing contestants took to the dance floor, each dancing with a professional dancer.  Cllr Anne Corbridge, the Mayor of Lymington danced the Cha Cha, Nigel Lang danced the Charleston, Mahala Smith, Marketing Co-ordinator of the Centre danced the American Smooth, Ian Duncan, Lions Club danced the Cha Cha, with Jan Allen, fund-raiser finishing off the competition with the Jive.

There was a panel of judges overseeing and critiquing their performances.  During the interval, the audience were then invited to vote for their favourite performance.  A Raffle kindly arranged by Ann Jarman was drawn followed by more dance demonstrations by Kayleigh and her team of dancers.

Mahala Smith and Kevin were announced the winners and were presented with the Strictly Lymington Glitter Ball by Anna Rostand.
